| Description |
English: Old station building, Cultra (1) A rather grand station building, which probably incorporated the stationmaster’s residence as well as the station building, behind the down platform. In a standard County Down Railway style similar to J4341 : Tullymurry Railway Station (ex), it is both listed (HB23/18/059) and on the “at risk” register where it is described as “thought to have been designed by G. P. Culverwell and built in 1897”. Now in an apparently (to the layman) sorry state. My memories of travelling on the Bangor line go back to 1970 when it already seemed past its best. J4180 : Cultra station (redevelopment) - September 2017(1) shows the view after restoration/renovation and conversion to residential use. |
