English: Old quarry face in Stanton Hill Wood This must once have been quite a substantial quarry for its day - the working face is perhaps 150 yards long, and up to 40 or 50 feet high. My guess is that it provided quite a lot of building stone for Shifnal before brick became the material of choice.
On another tack altogether, I did once investigate the climbing or bouldering potential here, as the walls look reasonably sound. Don't be misled - it's rubbish. |
