Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld burial ground - geograph.org.uk - 1748469.jpg |
English: Old burial ground. This small burial ground is enclosed within its original stone wall, and is located inside the modern and much larger 1748259.
This smaller enclosure was the churchyard of Dunipace Chapel, which was demolished in 1835. See http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/47050/details/hills+of+dunipace+church+and+burial+ground/ (at Canmore) for details of the chapel, the burial ground, and the gravestones within it. For another photograph taken within this old churchyard, see 435908; see also 435903, which comments on the long-gone chapel. The former churchyard, along with 1748406, is a scheduled monument. |
