Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld and new from Forbury Gardens.jpg |
English: In the background is The Blade, Reading's newest office block nearing completion.
In front is the Abbey Gateway. This is the inner gateway of Reading Abbey, built by Henry I in 1121. This particular building survived the destruction of the Abbey during Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries in 1538, but was since heavily "restored" in the Victorian era. The photograph is taken from within Forbury Gardens. |
