Miehle printing press in operation, with the bed passing under the inking rollers

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The bed of metal type passing under the inking rollers of a Miehle Model 00 flat-bed cylinder printing press. The print roller is on the left; the press operator, in the upper left, loads pages to be printed, while the webbing above the bed delivers printed pages to be lifted onto the output tray on the right. This press, now at the printer's hall of the Old Thresher's Reunion museum, was originally sold to the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing, which sold it to The Yellow Springs (Ohio) News in 1961, where it continued in commercial operation until 1991. Here, the press is being used to print an 8-page newspaper, with two press runs required to print the two sides of the paper.
