Description

Last remnants of the Barbados Railway, some 75 years after system was scrapped (in 1937).

Old railways lines can still be seen in many parts of the island ,used as stay poles by the local Power Company. This line material used by the power company, dates back to 1914, when a German company had imported it to expand the local railway line. Meanwhile back Europe , World War 1 had started and the Germans had not choice but to retreat sharpish from the British colony.
