Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld Oak Common Depot class 47 geograph-2396992-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Class 47 Diesel locomotive coming off Old Oak Common Depot. View westward, towards the great Old Oak Common Locomotive Depot on the lines leading off the ex-Great Western main lines from Paddington: these and the large Old Oak Common East Junction signalbox are off to the left; up on the right is the Grand Union Canal. At least in Steam days, this was an ideal and popular spot for train-watchers, with constant activity on the ex-GWR, also frequent trains on the West London Line that crossed nearby - see TQ2282 : Scene at Old Oak Common East Junction, with a Class 31 Diesel on empty stock from Paddington. No. 47.479 is a Class 47/4, being one of the very successful Brush 2,750hp Type 4 Co-Co's first introduced in 9/62 and built in large numbers during the ensuing 2 - 3 years |
