It no longer ful-fils the place in the Postal service which it did orig-inally, its functions having been transferred to thehuge building at 8th Avenue and 33rd Street. Withthis material change the desire to regain our oldoriginal beautiful Park as it was in Colonial days in-creased with the passing years. Early in 1921, a Citizens Committee, acting in co-operation with Mayor Hylan, took the matter ener-getically in charge and for the first time secured def-inite results.
