Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Old Hall Wharf on Old Hall Creek (running into Tollesbury Fleet), near the entrance of Old Hall Marshes NNR, Essex. The remnants of the 17th/18th century quay can now only be seen at low tide and modern metal pilings are only visible in the photo. Old Hall Farm, which was the Ship Ahoy pub until 1917, formerly the Crooked Billet pub, is behind the wharf. The pub and wharf were well known for smugglers in the 18th century. A brick works was located adjacent to the quay, and a warehouse there was burned down in the 1950s. The wharf is sometimes named Ship Ahoy Quay after the old pub.
