Description What a difference a year makes. I went back to Banff to attempt a Sulphur Mountain hike again to find that the gondola and the hiking trail was closed due to construction. This is exactly the thing I'm talking about: you never really think what you're doing at the time is historic, but someday it'll be forever changed and you won't have a chance to do it again. This ever changing human landscape is what I'm really interested in. The upper terminal of the Banff Gondola is to be demolished and a new one built over top of its foundation. The construction is expected to be completed Summer of 2016. The demolition of the old building guarantees that there will never be a photo taken like this again. I'm glad that I can definitely say I enjoyed the hell out of it while I could. Especially with the 10 free rides down the gondola over the previous Winter that passed. Seeing the town in the darkness from above was quite memorable too with the Alpine Lights dinner we had at the Panorama Restaurant. I know i will enjoy the new facility, but good bye's are always kind of sad. Good bye old friend, thanks for the memories!
