English: View of Olakkannesvara temple which is situated atop Mahishasuramardhini cave from Mahabalipuram Lighthouse. Olakkannesvara temple also served as the lighthouse of mahabalipuram in olden times by lighting a lamp on its roof. Interestingly, It is designed and constructed by King Pallava. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Many intricate stone carvings are made on its walls. It is one of the monuments of Mahabalipuram designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. |
