Description
English: Ogilisi/ogirisi/ogirishi is the Igbo name for this leaf, known scientifically as Newbouldia laevis.

This leaf possesses numerous benefits. Both physically and spiritually.

Boiling the leaves and inhaling the fumes and taking a sip from it shortly before bedtime projects extraordinary dreams, according to your channeled desires.

Ogirisi is a holy leaf, used for purification.

You can soak a stem of leaves in clean water, preferably from a natural source, E.G rain water and spray around your environment, for purification and sanctity. You can also put the leaves in your bathing water, as well as scrubbing your body with it for edification and purification.

Ogirisi leaves are also antidotes for venomous stings and bites. The bark and roots of the tree is a remedy for convulsions, spasms, swellings, headaches and a host of others. Apart from being a holy leaf, ogirisi is instrumental in helping with labor and also milk production for nursing mothers.

Ogirisi repels evil people and evil people avoid ogirisi too.It is also used in boundary demarcation.

This leaf/tree is common in Igbo land.
