Description

Ocherous dolomitic siltstone in the Mississippian of Ohio, USA.

These odd rock samples are in the near-basal Borden Formation in southern Ohio. They are the lateral equivalents to the Rockford Limestone of Indiana and Kentucky. The Kinderhookian-Osagean boundary is within the Rockford interval.

Stratigraphy: near-basal Henley Member, Borden Formation (formerly referred to as the Cuyahoga Formation), Lower Mississippian

Locality: Tener Mountain roadcut along the northwestern side of Rt. 32 (= Appalachian Highway), immediately east of the Rt. 32-Union Hill Road intersection, just southwest of the Adams County-Pike County line, far-northeastern Adams County, southern Ohio, USA (39° 01' 11.39" North latitude, 83° 16' 47.10" West longitude)
