Description
Deutsch: 13., Schönbrunner Schlosspark: Die Anlage für den auf (ehemals vergoldeten) Schildkröten stehenden, aus St. Margarethener Stein nachgebildeten ägyptischen Obelisken hat 1777 Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg errichtet. In Nachahmung ägyptischer Hieroglyphen sind Szenen aus der Geschichte des Hauses Habsburg eingemeißelt. Die Grotte unter dem Obelisk heißt Sibyllengrotte; die allegorischen Steinskulpturen der Flussgötter Donau und Enns schufen Wilhelm Beyer und Benedikt Henrici.
