Situado en el Paseo Marítimo de A Coruña fue inagurado el 1 de enero de 2001 y tiene una altura de 46 metros de monumento y 4 de baliza de señalización y pararrayos. Está formado por 174 piezas de cristal de roca, distribuidas en tres caras, con un espesor por pieza de 8 mm. y una superficie de 1,16 m. a 2,06 m. Los cristales fueron realizados por la empresa holandesa Van Tetterode. En sus dibujos se representan escenas de la historia de la ciudad, como la figura del Rey Alfonso IX (que concedió carta de naturaleza de ciudad a La Coruña en 1.208), Carlos I que partió del puerto coruñés para ser coronado emperador en Alemania, la batalla de Elviña, María Pita, etc. |
