Summary
[edit]DescriptionOast House at The Museum of Kent Life, Cobtree, Lock Lane, Sandling, Kent - geograph.org.uk - 1498669.jpg |
English: Oast House at The Museum of Kent Life, Cobtree, Lock Lane, Sandling, Kent. Twin square kilned and twin round kilned ragstone oast house. The square kilns, one now missing original roof and cowl.
The building has the last cowl fired oast house kiln in the country, used for demonstration purposes. The rest of the building is now a museum about hop picking and oast houses and also the main entrance and shop. In 1953 the oast house caught fire ruining much of the roof. Modern timbers can now be seen throughout the building. Also see 576153 |
