Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In Bhutan, chewing pan, known as doma, is deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric. It's a social and traditional practice where betel nut, areca nut, lime paste, and sometimes tobacco are wrapped in a betel leaf and chewed. This custom is prevalent among both men and women, often during social gatherings, ceremonies, or leisurely moments. Despite concerns about health risks associated with betel nut consumption, such as oral cancer, doma chewing remains a cherished aspect of Bhutanese culture, fostering connections and camaraderie among its people.
