Description A U.S. Navy Vought O3U-3 Corsair observation plane (BuNo 9329) on the midships elevator of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5), 2 November 1937. This aircraft is painted in blue and silver "command colours" for the use of the ship's Commanding Officer. On 9 November 1937, it became the first plane to be launched from Yorktown´s hangar deck catapult. The aircraft in the right background are Grumman J2F-1 Duck utility planes (BuNos 0169 and 0170).
