Description |
English: Nymph with a shell. Marble, 1685. Variation after Ma 18, a Roman statue then in the Borghese collection, now exhibited in the Department of Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities in the Louvre--which was in its turn a copy after the Hellenistic type of the knucklebones player. Coysevox's statue is one of a series of copies after the antique commissioned in 1683 by Louis XIV to decorate the park of Versailles.
Français : Nymphe à la coquille. Marbre, 1685. |
