| Description | Nunavut (vort land) er et hjemmestyreområde i Nord Canada. Området blev oprettet i 1999 efter forhandlinger med de "oprindelige" folk i området om den oprindelige befolknings rettigheder. Det eksisterende Northwest Territories blev delt i to. Nunavut omfatter næsten 25% af Canadas landområder. Området bebos af cirka 30.800 mennesker og er med et areal på 2.093.190 km² næsten 50 gange større end Danmark eller ca. på størrelse med Grønland. Hovedstaden er Iqaluit, som ligger på Baffin Island. |
