English: This diagram demonstrates the nuclear fuel cycle. Uranium is mined, enriched and manufactured to nuclear fuel which is delivered to a nuclear power plant. After usage in the power plant the spent fuel is delivered to a reprocessing plant or to final repository for permanent storage in a safe place, e. g. inside a rock. In reprocessing 95 % of spent fuel can be recycled to be returned to usage in a power plant.
Deutsch: Diese Grafik zeigt den nuklearen Brennstoffkreislauf. Das Uran wird abgebaut, angereichert und zu Kernbrennstoff verarbeitet, welches in ein Kernkraftwerk gebracht wird. Nach der Verwendung im Kernkraftwerk wird der abgebrannte Kernbrennstoff zu einer Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage (in Europa beispielsweise La Hague oder Sellafield) oder in ein Endlager zur endgültigen Lagerung an einem sicher von der Umgebung abgeschlossenen Ort, meist innerhalb eines Felsens, überbracht (erfolgt meist in speziellen Behältern, z. B. dem CASTOR). Bei der Wiederaufarbeitung können 95 % des abgebrannten Kernbrennstoffs für eine erneute Verwendung in einem Kernkraftwerk wiederaufarbeitet werden. |
