m hiesigen zoologischen Museum sah, em-pfing das Wiener Museum dasselbe Thier neuerlich aus Celebes. In-dessen findet sich nach H. Boie (Isis 1826, Heft2) der H. bivittatusauf Java, Celebes, auf dem Festlande von Cochinchina, undselbstinJapan. Wie sich beide Thiere in ihrer Verschiedenheit und geogra-phischen Verbreitung zu einander verhalten, mochte demnach nur inden reichen Museen von Paris und Lejden zu ermitteln sejn. Ueber die Lebensweise des H. marmoratus erfuhrHerr Me jendasselbe, was Lesson von seinem Varanus Kalabeck berichtet,dass er auf Wasservogel Jagd mache.
