La nouvelle salle regroupant des oeuvres d'art extra-européen ayant appartenu à Paul Guillaume (1891-1934) Dépôt du musée du quai Branly Jacques Chirac, Paris Le marchand d'art Paul Guillaume et le poète Guillaume Apollinaire, son conseiller artistique, ont largement contribué à la connaissance et à la diffusion des arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie. Ils n'ont pas été les seuls à s'intéresser aux arts extra-européens mais Paul Guillaume a joué un rôle très important en ce domaine. Apollinaire a le premier, en 1909, défendu l'intérêt de la présence d'oeuvres d'arts extra-européens au musée du Louvre bien avant Jacques Kerchache qui a conseillé le président Jacques Chirac pour la création du musée du quai Branly. <a href="https://www.musee-orangerie.fr/fr/article/les-arts-extra-occidentaux" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.musee-orangerie.fr/fr/article/les-arts-extra-occidentaux</a> |
