La, comme dans leCaucase central, larête maîtresse est accompagnée darêtes parallèles, for-mant avec la première et les chaînons transversaux de longues dépressionsallongées et présentant toutes leurs escarpements rapides du côté de lacrête médiane, leurs pentes douces du côté de la mer. Les sentiers quitraversent la chaîne remontent les vallées parallèlement à la crête, puis,arrivés à la hauteur des cols, nont plus quà contourner les cimes.
