Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Handley-Page bomber crew, Western Front, during World War I. The three-man air crew of this Handley-Page bomber. They are in the rather blunt-shaped nose of the aeroplane. This bomber had a maximum range of 650 miles (1,040 kilometres) and a maximum speed of 99 miles per hour (160 kilometres per hour).

This is one of a series of photographs of the bomber attributed to Tom Aitken. Unlike some of the other images, this does not appear to have been censored, probably because it shows little detail of the aeroplane itself.
[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT IN FRANCE. The nose of a Handley-Page manned by three men.']
