| Description |
English: LNE Thompson B1 4-6-0 at Norwich Thorpe station. View NW, towards the buffer-stops. The B1s were introduced onto the principal ex-GE main line in 1946 and usurped the B17 '4-6-0s on express services until the advent of the BR 'Britannias' in 1951. Here B1 No. 61059 (built 7/46, withdrawn 11/63) is about to leave on an Up express - note the white discs - instead of (electric)headlamps used at night. |
