Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorwegian seamen's church - geograph.org.uk - 1605530.jpg |
English: Norwegian seamen's church The need for this mission was prompted by the large number of Scandinavian ships bringing pit props and taking on coal at Swansea docks around the turn of the C20. The church was originally in Newport but was re-erected here in 1910 for Norwegian sailors. It functioned as a place of worship, and Britain's last working seamen's mission, until 1998. It was relocated again for the redevelopment of the docks and is now a jewellery showroom.
