The younger generation are, I am convinced, wellrepresented by the painters Axel Ender and Otto Sinding.Axel Enders picture The Resurrection Morn givesdistinction to the little church at Molde. It illuminatesthe interior in a wonderful degree by its faint chastecolouring. The surprise on the listening womens faces iswell rendered, and the angels figure is easily poised on thetomb. THREE BROTHERS, HEYERDAHL, KROHG 25 born in 1842, and is a brother of the sculptor StephenSinding, and of Christian Sinding the composer, each amaster of his art. Otto Sinding made his debut inliterature before he began his artistic studies, and tried tofind satisfaction in a variety of tasks. He divided hisgreat working powers between painting and literary orscenic interests. He has painted marine pictures andgenre, historical scenes, representations of fishing life onthe Norwegian coast, landscapes, peasant life, and fishingin the Lofoten Islands. These latter works, to my mind,are as good if not better than any I have seen fromhis brush. On page 228 is a very impressive renderingof a fishing village among the Lofotens, The snow isdeep over the cabins and fields that lie at the foot ofgreat walls of rock, whose peaks jut into the mists.
