Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorthern tumulus, Pinnacle Hill - geograph.org.uk - 1419402.jpg |
English: Northern tumulus, Pinnacle Hill Two tumuli adorn the northern peak of Pinnacle Hill.
Sometimes difficult to photograph, but here caught on the skyline. Tumuli were built by the bronze age "Beaker People" as burial mounds visible on the skyline when viewed from the fields below. Beautiful pottery beakers were placed in the mounds. In the distance is the much more recent iron-age hill fort of British Camp with its relatively modern Norman motte on the summit. |
