| Description |
English: Northern Extension of St Nicholas's Churchyard The Church Street entrance to the extension consecrated in 1824 which was once the site of the parish stocks. Along with the rest of the churchyard burials were stopped from 1853 and the area was taken over by the borough in 1884 and turned into gardens. From 1949 the gravestones were removed to the sides and the area became a children's playground. The flats in the background are Derwent Court. |
