Summary
[edit]DescriptionNortheast corner of Ibsley Common - geograph.org.uk - 236857.jpg |
English: Northeast corner of Ibsley Common. The worn paths on this corner of the common show up white because the acid-bleached gravel has been exposed. It shows up particularly well against the browns of the heather which has passed its blooming best. In the distance to the left is Dorridge Hill, the green area in the dark on the right is Ogdens, and the brown heath and eroded paths of Hampton Ridge can be seen in the far distance. Historically Ibsley Common was separate from the Crown Lands of the New Forest, even if there was no fence to show it; the common was incorporated within the Forest perambulation in 1964. |
