Description
English: A scene in front of the Thompson's Variety Store in Northbrook, Ontario 1928. Unknown people in photograph.

The following information was written/researched by Eileen Flieler for the 2015 CDHS Calendar:
'The first owner of this business, John Carscallen, was one of the earliest settlers in Glastonbury. It was purchased from him by Casper and Lulu Thompson between 1920 and 1930. It was a general store where residents could buy feed, hardware, food and dry goods and became known as C.C. Thompson's Variety Store. About 1938 it operated as a Red and White Store.
Over the years it was owned by Alf and Lula Northey, Doug and Tish Butson, Ron and Shirley Sedore, Dick and Olive Hook who sold it to Bob and Margaret Glecoff.
The store had many iterations. The original building burned in the late 1930s and was rebuilt. Thompson's renovated it to a more modern design. Hook's tore this store down in 1985 and built a new one which operated as a Freshmart. (When they operated the old store it operated under the name Delibrook).

The Glecoffs added to the Freshmart in 1990, 1992 and again in 1998/99 which brought it to its current size. It is now operated as a 'Foodland' by the daughter and son-in-law of Glecoffs, Charlene and Kevin Van Dusen.
