A group photograph at the opening of the Northampton Public Baths on 3 October 1936.The caption says: "Lord Burghley makes an inspection of Northampton's new baths. In front, Lord Burghley, the Mayoress of Northampton, Lady Burghley (holding bouquet), the Mayor of Northampton (Councillor S. Perkins), the Mayoress of Hastings and the Mayor of Hastings (extreme right). Councillor Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke (Chairman of the Baths Committee) is next to the Mayor of Northampton, and Mr H. A. Glenn (the builder of the baths) is on the extreme left". Ernest Prestwich, the architect of the baths, is standing second from right. He made a presentation to Lord Burghley (David Cecil, 6th Marquess of Exeter) as Burghley opened the baths. |
