English: North Greenwich: Tube station exterior
The Jubilee Line eastern extension opened about 12 years ago when large crowds were expected to visit the then Millennium Dome, so this station was built on a grandiose scale in anticipation. There has been a North Greenwich station before, many years ago: it was situated on the north bank of the river, close to where Island Gardens DLR station is now. It closed on 4 May, 1926 for good. |
