c/n 124-44703 Built in 1944 as a P-51D-25-NT with the US military serial 44-84847. Sold off in April 1956, she was stored dismantled until restoration work began in 1998. She went on the US civil register as N251RJ in January 1999 but was sold to the UK based Fighter Collection in 2005. The restoration was completed by Fighter Rebuilders at Chino, who converted her into a two-seat TF-51. She flew again in May 2007 and was painted as “Miss Velma”, representing 44-14561 which was operated by the 375th Fighter Squadron until written off on 1st October 1944. N251RJ was flown to the UK in the summer of 2007 and arrived at Duxford in time to take part in that year’s Flying Legends Airshow. She remained with the Fighter Collection in the UK and went on the British civil register as G-TFSI in June 2014. She was sold to Anglia Aircraft Restorations in 2016 and following a wheel-up forced-landing in July 2017, she was repainted in the markings of the 78th Fighter Group, who were based at Duxford during World War 2. She now represents ’44-14251’, a P-51D-10-NA of the 84th Fighter Squadron flown by Major Roy B.Caviness. She is seen on the flightline before displaying at the Imperial War Museum’s 2021 Battle of Britain Air Show. Duxford Airfield, Cambridgeshire, UK
