English: F-86F Sabre s/n 52-5276 (buzz no FU-276), 36th FDW (36th Fighter Day Wing, USAFE) at Soesterberg/Netherlands, Nov. 9 1954. The three wide angled bands on fin and rudder were painted with black trim lines in the three (of five) squadron colors 22nd FDS Red (at Bitburg, Germany), 53rd FDS Yellow (at Bitburg, Germany), 23rd FDS Medium Blue (at Soesterberg/NL or Hahn/Ger) or 32nd FDS Green (at Soesterberg ) or 461st FDS Black (at Hahn/Ger). The Yellow and Black bordered fuselage band on fuselage nose is probably remindful of Korean Theatre 1950-53. This aircraft was flown by I/SGT D. A. PRICE. In 1953 F-86Fs started to arrive, replacing the F-84Es Thunderjets. By June 1956, the F-100C Super Sabre was being flown by the 23 and 53 squadrons, shortly afterwards all five squadrons were operating the F-100C. [1]
