Description

c/n 173-121 Built for the USAF with the serial 51-5977. Initially operated by the 5th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, part of the 568th Air Defence Group. Transferred to the Royal Danish Air Force in July 1958 with the serial 15977 and the code AL-M. Later renumbered as F-977, she served with Eskadrille 726 from 1958 to 1964, Eskadrille 723 from 1964 to 1965 and Eskadrille 728 from 1965 to 1966. Retired in March 1966, she was used as a decoy at Karup Airbase before being preserved at Kjevik Airbase. She later moved to Skein in Norway before joining the Svedinos Bil-Och Flygmuseum at Halmstad in Sweden during September 2006. She arrived here in March 2016 and has been painted to represent F-86D-40-NA ‘52-3667’ of the 324th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, based at Sidi Slimane Airbase in Morocco between 1958 and 1960.
