Deutsch: North American B-45A-5-NA Tornado (BE-057, s/n 47-057), 84th Bomb Squadron, 47th Bomb Wing (Light), Sculthorpe (England), Mitte der 1950er Jahre. Eine B-45A der 85th Bomb Squadron (USAFE 85. Bomberstaffel) mit der Serialnumber s/n 47-068 (BE-068) wurde auf RAF Sculthorpe AB am 19. Mai 1958 aus dem aktiven Dienst entfernt, und nach Giebelstadt AB bei Würzburg überflogen. Der abgeschriebene, erste 4-strahlige leichte Bomber der US Air Force diente fortan der Flugplatzfeuerwehr als Übungsobjekt. Eine konstruktive Besonderheit der ab 22.04.1948 in den aktiven Truppendienst übernommenen B-45 Tornado war, daß jeweils 2 parallel liegende Strahltriebwerke in zwei Unterflächengondeln zusammengefasst waren. Ausserdem besaß die B-45 noch keine gepfeilten Tragflügel, jedoch wurden diese bei den Folgemodellen B-47 und B-66 endgültig eingeführt. [1] Hinweise:
