Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorðbergseiði Hvalba Cliffs of Suðuroy Faroe Islands.JPG |
English: This photo was taken on Norðbergseiði west of the village Hvalba in Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. The distance between the east and west coast is very short in Hvalba, around 1 km. There are two so-called Eiði in Hvalba, both on the west coast, the other eiði is called Hvalbiareiði or Fiskieiði and used to be a fish harbour. This place used to be a dumping place for garbage, but the last decades all garbage in the Faroe Islands has been collected and burned. Norðbergseiði is developing into a tourist attraction. In 2009 men from Hvalba started to offer síging (a kind of rappelling) for tourists. People also come here to enjoy the view. A road goes all the way to the edge of Norðbergseiði.
