Deer grazing holly tree in Killarney National Park, a chronically overgrazed veteran forest park.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Grazing pressure from non-native sika deer, native red deer, large feral goats and wandering sheep from neighbouring farms have rendered Killarney National Park a veteran forest meaning very little to no natural regeneration takes place. Added to this a major problem with invasive Rhodoendron ponticum and Ireland's finest designated forest is in severe danger of being lost.
