Summary

[edit]
Description
English: No 2 Churchside, Howden, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Seen from the minster churchyard, this Victorian commercial building copied the style of a Florentine palazzo. William Small and his sister, Justice, from London, developed the site as business premises. Justice's initials are above the door. By 1881 it was used by the Yorkshire Banking Company. It currently appears to be unoccupied. The sculpture in the foreground is one of a series commissioned by the minster from John Maine, RA between 2002 and 2008.
