No. 9 Squadron UH-1 resupplies 2 and 7RAR units

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A RAAF Iroquois helicopter, A2-649, from No 9 Squadron re-supplies troops of the First Australian Task Force (1ATF) in the field during a recent search and destroy operation in Phuoc Tuy Province. The operation, by troops of the 2nd and 7th battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR and 7RAR), was aimed at destroying a Viet Cong (VC) logistics area on the coast about 20 miles from the Task Force HQ at Nui Dat. The RAAF helicopters flew long hours in support of the operation, re-supplying forward areas and also providing around-the-clock 'dust-off' service for any wounded. The No 9 Squadron is based at Vung Tau, 35 miles south-east of Saigon and is commanded by O35030 Squadron Leader Peter John Reed.
