Description
English: Nilgiri Tahr (Nilgiritragus hylocrius) is a wild ungulate that is endemic to the Western ghats mountain range in India straddling the borders between the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Nilgiri Tahr is the largest of the three Tahr species. Males significantly heavier than females with a body weight up to twice as much. The IUCN Caprinae specialist group classifies the Nilgiri Tahr as endangered (2004).
