Summary: RU 245 Box 230 Folder 2. A Nihoa millerbird on nest in shrubby growth of Chenapodium sandwicheum and Sida fallax near the summit of Miller's Peak on Nihoa; Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge. This may have been the first nest of this bird found on Nihoa. It contained one egg which was being incubated by two individuals; presumably male and female. This photograph was taken as part of the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. According to the caption on the back of this photograph; the bird was found on Nihoa's 146 acres and nowhere else in the world. A note indicates the rarity of the bird. The bird continues to face the threat of extinction.
