Description
English: Nigrodharam is an ancient site located at a distance of 1 km from Taulihawa Bazaar, the headquarters of the ancient Kapilvastu district. Which is also called Kudan. This place was built by King Shuddhodhan, the father of Gautama Buddha in Bihar, where Gautama Buddha and his monks lived. There is also a stupa in the memory of Maharani Prajapati Gautami giving kashay bastra to Shakya Muni Buddha in this Nigrodharam. At the same time, Rahul also became a monk. Some scholars have also identified this place as Kshamavati, the city of Krakchund Buddha. Excavations in 1962 show that the Shivalinga, an ancient Buddhist site at the top of the central and southern ruins, was dominated by Hindus in the Middle Ages.

This Nigrodharam Kudan is considered important in Buddhist history. When Siddhartha, the son of King Shuddhodhan, came to Kapilvastu for the first time after attaining enlightenment, he met him at this place after 7 years. Which is also called the place where father and son meet. The Shakya king Shuddhodhan donated a magnificent Bihar to Gautama Buddha and the monks in the wake of Nigrodha Shakya. While Gautama Buddha was in Kapilvastu, 500 Shakyaputras left home and became monks. The water of the ancient well, which is considered to be older than the three stupas in this Kudan, is believed to have been used by Lord Buddha and the monks who came with him during their stay in the garden of this Kudan.

It is located in the middle of a quiet garden. There is even a pond in front of big Bihar. There is also a temple of Shiva in the upper part like stupa on the left side of Kudan entering Bihar from the main gate. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has Shivalinga and idols of various deities. The first Dr. Kudan of this place. Fहरhrer had excavated. PC Mukherjee and LB Dev also stepped up the excavation work.
