Summary
[edit]DescriptionNight Time Airdrop Resupply in Afghanistan MOD 45150909.jpg |
English: Soldiers from the Household Cavalry Regiment Battle Group retrieve ration supplies, dropped at night by C-130 Hercules aircraft near Forward Operating Base (FOB) Edinburgh on the outskirts of Musa Qal’eh, Afghanistan.
Air drops are being used to minimise the threat to road convoys from improvised explosive devices (IED’s) by reducing their need. The loads can be dropped accurately from the air, making resupplying the Forward Operating Bases less dangerous. Troops collect the stores from the drop zone, and use a variety of vehicles including the new Springer to return the rations into the FOB.
