Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal. I took this picture from the National Geographic Quest as we made our night passage throught the locks. Electric locomotives (called "mules") connect to the ships in the locks via cables that are used to center the ship in the lock. Note the much lower ship carrying a crane in the lock on the other side heading from right to left.
