Nieuwe Winschoter Courant, Sondag 1 Junie 1884

Nieuwe Winschoter Courant, Sunday 1 June 1884
... That a king was proclaimed in Zululand under the influence and protection of the Boers is regarded by the English newspapers as a guarantee of the restoration of order.
Abroad.
LONDON, May 20th.
From Durban the news was confirmed to the Times that the Boers had installed Dinizulu. The ceremony took place on May 21 at Ingome. Seventy farmers' wagons made up the camp and the number of Zulus present is estimated at 7,000. Several Kaffir chiefs accompanied Dinizulu, but Oham, Usibepu and Umnyamana were absent, although they sent delegates who were authorized to approve the settlement. Boer leader Dirk Uys stood with Dinizulu under a blue and white flag as 44 years previously when the Boers crowned Panda. Uys announced that an agreement had been reached to prevent further bloodshed by restoring Panda's throne in the correct succession line. Uys declared a general amnesty and called on the Zulus to bury their assegais. The part of Zululand that the Boers retain corresponds to the area they claimed before the war. The Boers declare that their main goal is to end the bloodshed. They do not want to obstruct the English and even wish that Dinizulu would be under a British protectorate. Meanwhile, attacks on the royal party in the reserve continue.
