Palas. Mit 61 Metern Länge und 16 Metern Breite der größte Saalbau auf einer deutschen Burg des 14. Jahrhunderts. Er enthielt zwei zweischiffige Säle übereinander. Die Hauptfassade nach Süden ist durch zwei achteckige Seitentürme, einen Mittelturm und je 12 große Kreuzstockfenster gegliedert. Der achteckige Trum im Westen (sogenannter Damenerker) enthielt repräsentative Räume, der im Osten diente wirtschaftlichen Zwecken (sogenannter Küchtenturm). An der Nordwestecke des Palas ursprünglich ein Treppenturm, auf dessen Fundamenten der kleine Turm des Restaurants steht. In der Mitte des Saales Säulenreste. Auf den Standort der Nordwand weisen die Mauerreste hin. In der Stirnwand eine Nebentreppe zum Obergeschoß. Unter dem Palas befinden sich Kellergewölbe, die zum Teil verschüttet sind.
