| Description |
English: Niddry Street A connecting street between the Cowgate and the High Street. The row of tenements is unusual as it is a bridge. There is a level shopping street on one side and a sloping street on the other. As a result the shops start off on the ground floor, but are several stories up further down the street. The lower spaces are now home to bars and nightclubs. Niddry Street was the home of a rehearsal studio used by many Edinburgh bands.
The end building, Bank Hotel, was of course once a bank (Bank of Scotland). View across the High Street from the Calton Hotel. |
